OUR MASCOTS

Chance and Destiny are our school mascots. They have been developed with our children to represent everything great about being a kid.

Chance and Destiny help us to share with the kids the vision we have for them. These mascots are also a great way of communicating the values our community share in a way that the children relate to.

Frances Butler - Junior Teacher

Hi, I have been teaching in the junior room of Mimi School since the middle of 2008 and have really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere that Mimi School offers. As a mum, I am job sharing this position with Mary King. In addition to teaching here, my two sons Tom and Jack attend the school, while my daughter Ani is a keen participant in our B45 Pre-School sessions. My husband Murray and I live locally and I am pleased to be able to take on a teaching role within one of the local schools.

Sally Dawson - Senior Teacher

I have been teaching at Mimi since mid 2008 and love the children at this fantastic school. Teaching with a wonderful staff is also a highlight of my job.

The part time aspect of the Senior job allows me time with my 2 girls, Ella, and Olivia. I’m married to Glenn who is the Deputy Principal of Waitara High School and we live just out of Urenui Village on a small acreage where I keep my three horses. I also find time to do painting and drawing. Glenn and I also love getting up to the snow for ski-ing and snowboarding. Helping Mimi students realize their dreams and developing passions is a goal of mine here at Mimi School.

Jo McCrea - Administrator / Teacher Aide

Hi, Yip I have been at Mimi School for approximately 13 years (wonderful years too). I have seen many changes in the school (all good ones) I went to Mimi as a child and my Dad did too and I have lived in the district for a number of years in my life. David and I have 3 children between us and 3 wonderful grandchildren (another due at Xmas). I love seeing the kids go through Mimi and then seeing them again when they are parents. Makes me think I should be retired (playing golf). The kids and staff at Mimi are a wonderful bunch and provide a happy atmosphere.

mrelliottJohn Elliott - Principal
I joined the staff at Mimi school as a teacher at the start of 2006. I have taught in several schools around the North Island before my wife Nikki and I returned to the ‘Naki’ to start our family. Mimi was my first choice of school when we returned and I constantly marvel at how lucky I am to be here. I took on the principal position during 2008, and I am relishing the role. I continue to enjoy working within the united and supportive community here at Mimi School and .
